The Blue Ridge Disc Golf Club formed from a group of people interested in disc golf who wanted to bring the sport to Central Virginia. The group had its first formal meeting on February 8, 2002, and decided on its charter and rules and voted-in its first officers. The club has constructed three courses: Walnut Creek Disc Golf Course, Greene County Community Park Disc Golf Course, and Meadow Creek Gardens Park. Club members have also been involved in designing and building a number of Virginia's disc golf courses; Staunton's Kiwanis Course (public), Blue Ridge School (private), Wintergreen Resort (retired course), Shenandoah County Park (public), and Williamsburg's New Quarter Park (public). The club currently has a proposal for Biscuit Run State Park.
